 Cairo, Alexandria, El Alamein and

 Siwa Oasis

7th – 16th February 2005

 

 A fantastic tour full of contrast.  In Cairo we have an insight into the life of the Pharaohs and what they managed to build 4000 years ago. We visit all the main historical monuments, Pyramids, Sphinx, theTutankhamun exhibition, Old Cairo city including the Islamic and Coptic areas, then onto Alexandria founded by Alexander the Great, a visit to El Alamein bring us closer to modern times then we set off across to the natural and amazing site of Siwa Oasis.

 

The Program

Day 1 :

Depart Heathrow Terminal 3 at 17.25, schedule flight Egypt Air MS778, arrive Cairo 00.10. You will be met on arrival and taken to the Sofitel Le Sphinx Hotel for 1 night on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2 :

Tours included:  Pyramids, Sphinx and Cairo Museum housing the Tutankhamun exhibition – lunch is included

Day 3 :

Optional tours: 1.Saqqara (where you can see the step pyramid of King Zosser which is the first most significant freestanding building of stone. Memphis (site of the Ancient Egyptian capital during the Old Kingdom.

Day 4 :

Optional tour: Coptic and Islamic Cairo (The Citadel of Salah

El Din, Mosque of Mohamed Ali, the Hanging church and

Khan El Khalili bazaar). including lunch

Day 5 :

Depart to Alexandria. Tours included: Pompey’s Pillar,

Kom el-Shogafa Catacombs, Alexandria. National museum and

a stop at Pharaoh’s Island

Day 6 :

Depart to Siwa Oasis. Tours included: Visit the World War II cemeteries at El Alamein en route. Stay over night at Siwa Paradise hotel.

Day 7 :

Tours included: The temple of Amun, tombs of Gebal el-Mowta, temple of Alexandra the Great.  

Optional afternoon/evening tour:  Safari trip by 4x4 vehicle across the sand dunes to watch the sunset.

Overnight in Siwa Paradise hotel

Day 8 :

Depart to Alexandria and over night stay in hotel on bed and breakfast basis

Day 9 :

Optional Tour: Kom el-Dikka, (Roman theatre), the library

of Alexandria 

Depart to Cairo

Day 10 :

16th February 2005 Departure to London – Egypt Air schedule flight MS777 departing Cairo 9.35 arrive Heathrow

 12.35 terminal 3.

Visa.    - We can obtain these for you at a cost of £18 per person.
